Electric Pottery Wheel Course – How It Works

Today’s Guests

Today, we welcomed two women who tried the electric pottery wheel for the first time.
Even if it’s your first experience, please don’t worry — our instructors will guide you carefully and kindly.

At the beginning of the session, we explain important points and show examples of shapes you can make.
Then, you’ll be asked to sketch a simple design of what you’d like to create,
so we can understand your ideas and preferences.

Because classes at Wasyugama are kept small,
we provide personalized instruction to help each guest realize their own creative vision.

We provide aprons made from Kojima-produced denim,
famous for its high quality.
All tools and materials are prepared for you,
so you can simply come empty-handed and enjoy the experience.

Please keep your nails short, as long nails make it difficult to work with the clay.

The pottery experience takes about 90 minutes,
and we provide 2 kilograms of Bizen clay.

Handmade Bizen pottery pieces at Wasyugama

In just 90 minutes, you’ll be amazed at how much you can create.
Many guests say, “The 90 minutes went by so fast!”

From the pieces you make, about 700 grams of clay will be selected for firing —
for example, this is roughly two teacups or one medium-sized bowl.
Our staff will carefully trim and finish the base of each piece before firing.
